Other Metals
Exotic metals like copper, brass, and silver, while not suitable for fresh piercings, offer endless possibilities for healed ones. These malleable metals can be cast and crafted into stunning designs, boasting lustrous shines or warm, dark tones that exude sophistication. Often classified as organics due to their naturally occurring elemental roots, these metals are alloyed to enhance workability and create a spectrum of hues and finishes. While most people wear them without issue, some may experience irritation, as reactions vary. Unlike titanium or stainless steel, ideal for new piercings, these alloys shine in healed piercings. Explore Tribal Rites’ collection of these exquisite metals for bold, unique jewelry that elevates your style.
Oxidation: Metals can oxidize, a chemical reaction where exposure to air or other substances causes them to lose electrons, altering their surface. While steel’s oxidation shows as destructive reddish rust, not all oxidation harms—some metals, like titanium used in our piercing jewelry, resist it or form protective oxidized layers. “Other metals” like silver and bronze oxidize more noticeably: silver tarnishes with dark silver sulfide, while copper in bronze develops a green patina. Some oxidation washes off easily, while others require chemical cleaning or light scrubbing. At Tribal Rites, select manufacturers apply clear ceramic coatings to prevent oxidation, keeping the metal’s shine intact. These coatings also create a barrier, reducing skin contact and potential irritation for those with metal allergies. We’ll always note if a piece has this protective coating in its description, ensuring you can wear our exotic silver, bronze, or other alloy jewelry in healed piercings with confidence.

925 Silver (Sterling Silver)
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals such as copper, nickel, or zinc. Silver when shined has a beautiful white glow to it. It is extremely common for jewelry making, but it can be expensive. Outside of gold or platinum, silver is going to be the most expensive metal for jewelry.
Care for Silver: Use a silver buffing cloth to remove tarnish. Wash with soap and water.

Copper
Copper has a natural orange earth tone that makes it a beautiful jewelry metal.Copper is also said to have healing properties. There is some evidence for this. Wearing copper can reduce the chances for copper deficiencies which can lead to fatigue, weakness, and pale skin.
Care for copper: Copper jewelry, with its warm, rich glow, can develop a light green tarnish that may temporarily stain skin but washes off easily. Keep it shining by cleaning with warm water and soap, or soak in lemon juice or vinegar for up to 20 minutes to prevent tarnish, then rinse and wear. At Tribal Rites, our copper pieces with ceramic coatings resist oxidation, maintaining their fresh look for years without the need for such care. While these coatings may reduce copper’s reputed “healing” properties by limiting skin contact, they ensure lasting beauty for healed piercings, letting you wear your jewelry with confidence.

Bronze
Bronze has a subdued darkened gold color. The draw to bronze is not dissimilar from why people like dark wood stains which can make for a very warming effect. Bronze is typically copper mixed with tin. Although, bronze can be mixed with other metals to produce a wide range of alloys with differing strengths and colors. Some of these are Aluminum Bronze, Nickel brass, and Copper Nickel.
Care for Bronze: Since the main ingredient in bronze is copper, it will be cared for just like copper jewelry. Wash with warm water and soap. If there is no ceramic coating soak in vinegar or lemon for up to 20 minutes if desired.

Brass
Brass is mainly Copper and Zinc with higher malleability than bronze. Brass jewelry dazzles with its vibrant shine, ranging from a rosy, copper-rich hue to a silvery glow with higher zinc content. You’ll find both reddish and white brass in our collection at Tribal Rites, each offering a brighter finish than bronze, making it pop against the skin. Perfect for those who love shiny, eye-catching pieces, brass also serves as an affordable alternative to gold, mimicking its warm tones at a fraction of the cost. Ideal for healed piercings, brass adds bold, budget-friendly flair to your style.
Care for Brass: Brass, like copper and bronze, develops a light green patina that some love for its warm, protective charm. If you prefer a pristine shine, remove tarnish with a simple paste: mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a few drops of lemon juice (expect some fizzing). Scrub the paste onto the jewelry with an old toothbrush, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, then rinse. For regular cleaning, warm soap and water work wonders.
At Tribal Rites, our brass jewelry for healed piercings offers a vibrant, gold-like glow that’s easy to maintain and stunning to wear.
